Walmart on lookout for new American brands

3/25/2019
Walmart is once again opening up the floor to American brands looking to gain distribution in its stores. The company currently is accepting applications for its sixth annual Open Call for products through April 30, according to a company blog post from Cindi Marsiglio, Walmart vice president of merchandising services and U.S. manufacturing.

rMarsiglio notes that the Open Call is part of its commitment to purchase $250 billion worth of products made, grown or sourced in the United States by 2023. She noted that last year’s Open Call saw nearly 600 pitch meetings with brands in various categories from 46 states — 25% of which were women-owned.

Through hundreds of meetings with our buyers, we make it easy for supplier hopefuls to showcase their products and potentially get them in the hands of millions of Walmart customers,” Marsiglio writes. “During Open Call, companies large or small and from all corners of the country have a shot at the American Dream.”

To apply, companies can visit the company’s JUMP portal.
