Rite Aid brings COVID-19 self-testing to 24 locations in 8 states

After rolling out to cities in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey, Rite Aid is adding sites in those states and bringing COVID-19 testing sites to five additional states. Locations are opening April 22 in Delaware, Idaho, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia through Rite Aid’s partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services. 

The following locations will be opening Wednesday, with hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week:

• Dover, Del.: 200 Pharmacy Drive in Smyrna;
• Boise, Idaho: 3250 S. Eagle Road in Meridian;
• Grand Rapids, Mich.: 5995 Kalamazoo Avenue, SE in Kentwood;
• Saginaw, Mich.: 4598 State Street in Saginaw;
• Central, N.J.: 31 Mule Road in Toms River;
• Albany, N.Y.: 1863 Central Avenue in Colonie;
• Akron, Ohio: 4053 South Main Street in Akron;
• Youngstown, Ohio: 713 North State Street in Girard;
• Erie, Pa.: 5430 Peach Street in Erie;
• Scranton, Pa.: 20 South River Street in Plains; and
• Virginia Beach, Va.: 2293 Upton Drive in Virginia Beach. 

The company said total, the sites can conduct nearly 5,000 tests daily. The drive-through testing sites will use self-swab nasal tests that will be overseen by Rite Aid pharmacists. The tests will be conducted in the parking lot of Rite Aid stores, and the company has partnered with Verily and its Baseline COVID-19 Program to provide screening, scheduling and return of results to patients. 

The company said that BioReference Labs has been selected to provide lab testing to all drive-up locations and PWNHealth, a national clinician network, is providing clinical oversight for the testing program. Testing is conducted at no charge for patients who meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria.
