Designed to help members bypass the traditional checkout line in its stores, the retailer recently announced that the service will now accept EBT SNAP payments.

By including this service, Sam’s Club said that it has become one of the first retailers to support digital EBT payments for in-club transactions, the company said.
“I have worked through many different features on the Scan & Go team and am excited by how fast members are embracing EBT SNAP, and thrilled with the positive feedback we’re receiving,” Lars Rehder, principal product manager, said. “We’re laser focused on providing the best experience for our members, and this is just another way we’re making the shopping experience at Sam’s Club even more convenient and accessible.”

To make the service and payment option seamless for shoppers, Sam’s Club worked with internal and in-club teams that take care of the interactions with the payment processors who manage each state’s EBT SNAP program.
In addition, the company worked with the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service throughout the project to review its solution and experience until it was successfully exited and fully certified, the company said.
