As Schnuck Markets moves into a hiring push, the company also has plans to increase its company-wide hourly wage. The company made the announcement Thursday, the same day it held a career fair to find new talent.

Todd Schnuck, chairman and CEO, said the increase takes effect on Oct. 11 for eligible teammates.

The increased wages apply to current and future Schnucks store, Bakery Plant and Floral Design Center teammates, with the exception of baggers. Store and facility teammates who were not already earning $12.10 per hour will receive the increase to that amount, and deli, meat and seafood teammates not currently making $12.75 will be increased to that amount.

In addition, Schnuck said, “many of our union teammates currently at top rate will have contract increases that were slated for Jan. 1 accelerated two months ahead of schedule for a Nov. 1 effective date.”

These wage increases follow news of a performance and retention bonus announced last week. Teammates hired at today’s career fair and after are eligible for the new wage, as well as the performance and retention bonus which pays up to $600 in January.

A few other benefits include:

  • Part-time store teammates are eligible to elect medical, dental, and short-term disability benefits after 90 days of employment; and
  • New hires are eligible for a teammate discount on day one of employment at Schnuck Markets.
