Southeastern Grocers is making a sizeable donation to eight children’s hospitals across the southeast thanks to Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie shoppers.

The retailer announced that it had raised more than $461,900 via its community donation program, which began on March 31.

“We are tremendously proud to be part of a community of associates, customers and partners that care passionately about our neighbors in need,” Anthony Hucker, president and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, said. “It is because of their kindness and generosity that we are able to support our local children’s hospitals with a donation that will truly make a difference and offer hope to families going through trying times. Through this donation, we continue to build stronger, healthier communities together.”

Donations received will be given to eight children’s hospitals to support their pediatric specialties, family-centered support, therapeutic activities, research, child advocacy and other additional programs, the retailer said.

Hospitals that will receive the donation include the Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Children’s of Alabama, Children’s of Mississippi, Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Studer Family Children’s Hospital and Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
