Southeastern Grocers rolls out contactless prescription delivery

Southeastern Grocers is making it easier for shoppers to obtain their prescriptions in a manner that complies with COVID-19 safety measures.

The retailer announced a partnership with ScriptDrop that will begin offering contactless prescription delivery options to consumers.

Shoppers at the company’s banners — Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie — will be able to choose from free curbside pickup, two-day shipping for the price of $4.99, and same-day delivery if within 5 miles of their local store for $7.99.

“We are at a pivotal moment in the fight against COVID-19 and we all need to do our part to protect one another when possible,” Gayle Shields, vice president of pharmacy and grocery non-food merchandising at Southeastern Grocers, said. “In an effort to give our customers a more accessible and safe way to pick up medication, Southeastern Grocers will begin to offer contactless prescription delivery at all Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie pharmacy locations. We hope this new option, combined with our collective effort as a community, will help us overcome this dangerous virus.”

Through utilizing technology solutions from Omnicell Population Health Solutions, the retailer is looking to also better connect with customers in order to provide useful information to continue helping the fight against the opioid crisis.

In addition, the retailer is working with Safe Rx to prevent the misuse of prescription medication and also debuting take-back kiosks in the greater Jacksonville, Fla., area.
