Southeastern Grocers supports American Red Cross fire prevention efforts

10/6/2020

Southeastern Grocers is continuing its partnership with the American Red Cross.

This time, the Jacksonville, Fla-.based retailer announced that it would be supporting the organization’s fire prevention and response efforts via a donation campaign.

Now through Nov. 3, shoppers in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas can support the Red Cross by rounding up their grocery total to the nearest dollar or make a contact-free donation of their choice at the register.

In addition, the retailer, through its SEG Gives Foundation, will be contributing $100,000 to the cause as a way to support the organization’s Fire Prevention Week, running from Oct. 4 to 10.

“At Southeastern Grocers, we are proud to continue our support of the American Red Cross and to continue the Positive Change donation campaign in our stores to benefit their vital fire prevention and response efforts,” Anthony Hucker, president and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, said. “We encourage our customers to donate at checkout to kindle contributions for and awareness of fire safety as we strive to cultivate stronger, safer communities for our associates, customers and communities.”

Funds collected through the donation campaign will go towards helping the Red Cross prepare, respond and aid in recovery efforts from natural disasters, the company said.

“We are very grateful for the continued support of Southeastern Grocers as we continue our journey of making our communities safer and more resilient. Each day the American Red Cross responds to countless disasters,” Gerald Thomas, American Red Cross regional CEO, North Florida Region said. “We couldn’t do this critically important work without partners like Anthony and his team. Thank you for your leadership and your commitment to our communities across the Southeast.”
