Target leverages all its capabilities to help last-minute shoppers
Target is doing its best impression of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer by offering same-day pickup and delivery of packages through Christmas Eve.
The discount giant is enabling customers to place online orders for free contactless in-store pickup and drive-up service until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve). Customers can also have online orders purchased and delivered the same day by a professional shopper via Target’s Shipt platform as late as 5 p.m. Christmas Eve.
New for the 2020 holiday season, Target doubled the total number of drive-up spots – adding nearly 8,000 more – in an effort to make it easier and faster for customers to pick up their orders. To eliminate contact from drive-up, customers can show their app to associates through their car window, with a personal identification number visible to confirm the order.
In addition, twice as many store associates are focused on delivering same-day service than during the 2019 holiday season. Shipt also added 150,000 shoppers for the current holiday season, so even more same-day delivery windows are available for guests with last-minute gift lists.
“Target teams across the country are ready to help guests get their last-minute items safely and easily,” said Mark Schindele, Target chief stores officer. “All season long, our nearly 1,900 stores have been delivering holiday joy to our guests no matter how they want to shop, and we’ve dedicated even more team members to our same-day services to make sure guests can get their online orders in plenty of time to celebrate.
