Target expanded its footprint heavily in 2021 by opening 32 brand-new locations.

Out of the 32 new locations, 28 are small-format stores, which were designed to be placed into spaces where traditional stores may not fit. Places in such areas as the Upper West Side of Manhattan and the University of Wisconsin – Madison campus, the smaller format stores feature amenities that have become synonymous with the retailer.

In addition, as a way to be more convenient to guests, Target has continued to expand the number of Drive Up spots at its new locations and added more space to the front of the building dedicated to Order Pickup services.
