In 2021 Target opened 32 new locations, including 28 small-format stores.
Target expanded its footprint heavily in 2021 by opening 32 brand-new locations.
Out of the 32 new locations, 28 are small-format stores, which were designed to be placed into spaces where traditional stores may not fit. Places in such areas as the Upper West Side of Manhattan and the University of Wisconsin – Madison campus, the smaller format stores feature amenities that have become synonymous with the retailer.
Each new location also boasts localized elements that span from design, like having a unique mural painted on the inside, to the assortment, featuring items from local sports team merch, the company said.
In addition, as a way to be more convenient to guests, Target has continued to expand the number of Drive Up spots at its new locations and added more space to the front of the building dedicated to Order Pickup services.
Lastly, each new location also contains the latest in health and safety, including additional space to accommodate social distancing, plexiglass shields at the checkout lanes, contactless fixtures and helpful signage, the company said.
The states in which Target opened up these new stores include California, New York, Oregon, Utah, Delaware, Georgia, Colorado, Illinois, North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, Idaho, New Hampshire and Florida.
