Unichem gets FDA OK for generic Celebrex

The Food and Drug Administration has given its blessing to Unichem for its celecoxib capsules. The drug is a generic of G.D. Searle's Celebrex in dosage strengths of 50 mg, 100 mg, 200 mg, and 400 mg.

The drug is indicated to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute pain and primary dysmenorrhea. 

The product will be commercialized from Unichem’s Goa plant.
