Walgreens Boots Alliance has a new executive leading its enterprise technology efforts. Mike Maresca joined the company at the end of June as chief technology officer, heading up its tech efforts in cloud strategy, enterprise architecture, application programming interfaces, data and analytics, SAP solutions and software development, reporting to WBA global chief information officer Francesco Tinto.
“Digital transformation is one of WBA’s key strategic priorities, and we are building out our team to support the change taking place throughout our business,” Tinto said. “Mike has been at the forefront of helping both Accenture and its clients to develop industry-leading technological capabilities, expertise which he is now bringing to WBA to help us achieve our transformation.”
Maresca joins WBA from Accenture, where he served as global managing director, overseeing business transformation and IT operations for the company’s global business applications and enterprise analytics.
He joins WBA as it works to bring together the company’s physical stores, its employees’ expertise, its established digital channels and its first-part customer data to create a differentiated experience, the company said. Among its tech partnership is a cloud modernization effort and a customer experience and insights platform partnership with Microsoft and Adobe.
“I am excited to join Walgreens Boots Alliance at a time when there is substantial momentum behind digitalizing the company,” Maresca said. “I am looking forward to working with the talented team at WBA to deliver on our digital agenda and transform our global business.”
