Walgreens Boots Alliance reportedly considering former Cigna executive Tim Wentworth for CEO

Wentworth was CEO of Express Scripts before Cigna acquired the pharmacy benefits manager in a $67 billion deal in 2018.

Walgreens Boots Alliance is reportedly considering Time Wentworth as CEO, per a Bloomberg report

According to the report, which cited people familiar with the matter, Walgreens may still consider other candidates for the job. 

Walgreens on Sept. 1, announced the resignation of former CEO Rosalind Brewer.

Wentworth was CEO of Express Scripts before Cigna acquired the pharmacy benefits manager in a $67 billion deal in 2018. He was appointed as the CEO of Cigna’s newly established health services organization, Evernorth, which houses Express Scripts and brands such as MDLive.

Cigna announced Wentworth's retirement two years ago and his employment officially ended in February 2022, according to a company filing. He is subject to a non-compete agreement for two years from the end of his employment, according to Cigna filings, which would expire in February 2024.

A Walgreens spokesperson contacted by Drug Store News declined to comment.
