Walmart appoints Howard Hacker as VP of health and wellness compliance

Hacker will be responsible for overseeing health-and-wellness compliance for clinics, pharmacy and optical operations, as well as the underlying compliance programs tied to them.

Walmart is welcoming a new executive leader, Howard Hacker, who will be joining on Oct. 17 as its new vice president of health and wellness compliance.

He will report to Matt Miner, global chief ethics and compliance officer.

Hacker will be responsible for overseeing health-and-wellness compliance for clinics, pharmacy and optical operations, as well as the underlying compliance programs tied to them.

Prior to Walmart, Hacker served as executive vice president and chief compliance officer at Tenet Healthcare, where he oversaw the ethics and compliance programs and reported directly to the quality, compliance and ethics committee of Tenet’s board of directors.

Before his time at Tenet, he spent more than a decade at Pfizer, serving as vice president and chief compliance counsel of Pfizer’s global pharmaceutical business. Early in his career, Hacker spent time as an attorney specializing in mergers and acquisitions, and securities law at Jones Day and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Field.

Hacker has a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a juris doctor from the University of Texas in Austin.
