Wegmans Pharmacy announces flu vaccine availability

Consumers now can get a flu shot at Wegmans Pharmacy.

The retailer announced that the influenza vaccine for the 2019 to 2020 season is now available at all of its locations.

To get a flu shot, consumers simply need to stop by during business hours. No prescription or appointment is necessary, and, in some cases, the fee is covered by insurance, the retailer said.

“The best way to protect yourself, your family and everyone around you from the flu is to get your annual flu shot” Stacy Cairns, Wegmans' pharmacist and pharmacy clinical and wellness services coordinator, said. “The effectiveness of the vaccine varies by season, but it remains your best line of defense, and can even reduce the severity of illness if you do get the flu.”

All of Wegmans’ pharmacists are certified to administer immunizations through the American Pharmacists’ pharmacy-based Immunization Delivery program.
