Following Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Winn-Dixie announced the donation of $170,000 to the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign and its movement to raise funds that support breast cancer patients, survivors and their families.
This donation was possible through generous contributions from Winn-Dixie customers and associates during the grocer’s annual community donation program held in neighborhood stores throughout Alabama, Mississippi, the Florida Panhandle, western Georgia and Louisiana’s St. Tammany parish. During the month of October, shoppers were encouraged to donate $1, $5 or simply round up their grocery bill to care for neighbors affected by breast cancer. The grocer has supported Making Strides Against Breast Cancer since 2008.
Jennifer Robertson, regional vice president for Winn-Dixie, said, “We are honored to continue our support of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’s incredible work to stand beside every fighter, thriver and loved one impacted by the disease. This cause is personal to so many of us, and we remain committed to nurturing the well-being of our neighbors across the Southeast. Together, we can make a positive difference by spreading hope, raising awareness and taking action to win the fight toward a future where breast cancer is no longer a devastating part of our community’s story."

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer movement offers a vital network of support through diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Every dollar donated during Winn-Dixie’s community donation program will go directly towards funding and conducting research, sharing expert information, supporting patients and spreading awareness about breast cancer prevention. The campaign inspires strength and supports every person touched by breast cancer in their quest for healing.
Winn-Dixie has a long-standing partnership with the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign, joining hands to raise awareness and donate nearly $1.9 million to the organization over the lifetime of the 16-year collaboration. Winn-Dixie said it is deeply rooted in the communities it serves across the Southeast and is dedicated to supporting healthy families and thriving communities.
