Albertsons taps Soda Health to bring Medicare Advantage benefits online
Albertsons and Soda Health are partnering to make it easier for Medicare Advantage members to use their supplemental benefits. Soda Health is a benefits card accepted by Albertsons.com, the grocery chain’s online portal for ordering and delivery.
“We pride ourselves on having convenient locations that make it easy for everyone to visit – but we also know that it’s not always practical to make a trip to the store when you’re busy or living with a health condition,” said Irina Pelphrey, vice president of health at Albertsons. “Medicare Advantage supplemental benefits help millions of Americans access the products they need to live healthier lives. Through our partnership with Soda Health, we’re now fully equipped to be the retailer of choice for beneficiaries so they can shop their favorite Albertsons’ stores, in-store and online.”

More than 30 million Americans use Medicare Advantage supplemental benefits to pay for over-the-counter products and food. In California alone, there are 3.5 million Medicare Advantage beneficiaries. Medicare Advantage benefits have seen an increased ease of use in recent years, with beneficiaries moving from mail order-only limitations to purchasing with their supplemental benefit cards in retail stores.
“By extending our partnership with Albertsons Companies to online purchases, we’re able to make sure that plan members are able to get exactly what they need without having to leave the house,” said Jared Childs, vice president of business development at Soda Health. “Everyone’s situation is different, and that’s why it’s so important to meet plan members on their own terms. With Medicare Advantage coverage now usable online at Albertsons.com, Soda Health is ensuring that the items they need are just a few clicks or taps away.”
