L’Oreal Paris taps del Castillo as its new spokeswoman

7/15/2009

NEW YORK L’Oreal Paris has signed Kate del Castillo as a new spokeswoman for the company and its beauty brands, the beauty company announced on Wednesday.

Under the exclusive North American contract, which includes the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, her first appearance will be in print and television advertising for Excellence hair color. The advertising, shot recently in Los Angeles and Paris, is scheduled to debut in the United States in September.

She is one of Mexico’s most acclaimed and popular actresses and is becoming a rising star in the United States. She is currently appearing as a guest star in several episodes of the fifth season of the Showtime hit comedy series “Weeds.” The episodes featuring del Castillo began July 13.

Later this summer, del Castillo will be starring in Univision.com’s first-ever webnovela (co-produced by del Castillo), “Vidas Cruzadas” (Crossed Lives), which will be supported by L’Oreal Paris. She will also be appearing in David Harrower’s two-character play “Blackbird.”

As the daughter of screen legend Eric del Castillo, she started acting at a very young age but it wasn’t until the popular telenovela “Muchachitas” that she became a major star in Mexico.
