TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — Prestige Brands announced Monday that it would be acquiring DenTek Oral Care in a $225 million all-cash transaction that it expects will add $60 million to its pro forma revenues annually. The move will expand Prestige’s portfolio into the specialty oral care category.
“The acquisition of DenTek, when combined with our existing oral care products, will create our fifth $100 million platform and provide the opportunity to enter the fast-growing specialty oral care category anchored by the DenTek brand,” Prestige Brands president and CEO Ron Lombardi said. “The DenTek brand complements our existing oral care platform and fits our business model with outsourced manufacturing and distribution, allowing us to focus on our core competencies in marketing and sales.”
Prestige expects the transaction to close in the first half of 2016. Prestige’s legal counsel for the transaction was a team from Reed Smith, led by the firm’s Chicago-based partners Michelle Moore and Seth Hemming, as well as associate Bob McCann.
