Reports: Sara Lee may split for-sale European household, personal care unit

NEW YORK The industry is abuzz over what will come of Sara Lee Corp.’s European household and personal care unit, which was put on the block last month.

According to published reports, bankers believe the portfolio, which includes Randox bath products, Sanex deodorant and Brylcreem hair products, will likely have to be split into personal care and household goods in order to get the deal done. Sara Lee has reportedly declined to comment on the sale process.

Several companies have been flagged as potential contenders, according to reports, including PZ Cussons, Unilever, SC Johnson, Colgate Palmolive and Reckitt Benckiser.

Sara Lee has reportedly valued its entire company at between $3 billion and $3.5 billion.
