KENNEBUNK, Maine — Natural personal care brand Tom’s of Maine is awarding more than $500,000 to support organizations and volunteers through its sixth annual 50 States for Good community giving program.
This year, more than $500,000 will go directly toward funding projects that benefit communities in every state and the District of Columbia. To date, the Tom's of Maine 50 States for Good community giving program, which allows the public to nominate their favorite nonprofits, has benefited more than five million people and hundreds of communities across the nation.
"For the first time, we're awarding more than $500,000 to support organizations and volunteers on the front lines of making communities stronger across the country," stated Susan Dewhirst, goodness programs manager at Tom's of Maine. "Every community advocate we heard from — reflected in thousands of nominations — has a unique and special vision for bringing a lasting, positive impact to where they live."
Each of the 51 nonprofits will receive $10,000 to support their community programming.
Nonprofits from each state were selected from a pool of nearly 3,000 nominations by a panel of judges, representing a variety of unique perspectives on human, healthy and environmental goodness.
Since it was founded in 1970, Tom's of Maine has donated 10% of its profits back to the community and encourages employees to use 5% (12 days) of paid time off to volunteer every year.
