Tom's new formula uses licorice root's glycyrrhizin
NEW YORK Tom’s of Maine, a maker of natural oral and body care products, has introduced a patent-pending new formula with the launch of its Natural Clean & Gentle Care and Sensitive Care toothpastes.
“The Tom’s research team has discovered that the natural ingredient glycyrrhizin, from purified licorice root, creates a natural foaming experience for dispersing ingredients in the mouth,” stated Tom Chappell, co-founder and chief executive officer of Tom’s of Maine.
The company has now added to its portfolio the new Natural Clean & Gentle Care Anti-cavity plus Whitening SLS-free Fluoride toothpaste, Natural Clean & Gentle Care Anti-cavity plus Dry Mouth Soother SLS-free Fluoride toothpaste, Natural Clean & Gentle Care Anti-plaque plus Whitening SLS-free Fluoride-free toothpaste and Sensitive Care Anti-plaque SLS-free toothpaste.
Colgate recently acquired Tom’s of Maine, a move that enabled Colgate to enter the fast-growing natural products segment. Colgate paid $100 million for an 84 percent interest, while founders, Tom and Kate Chappell retained a 16 percent stake in the company.
