BJ’s Wholesale Club announces store opening projects for 2022

The warehouse club retailer is opening three new locations in Florida, Michigan and New York, and an innovation lab in Rhode Island.

BJ’s Wholesale Club is planning for major developments in 2022.

The Westborough, Mass.-based retailer recently shared plans to open four new clubs as part of the first phase of its 2022 development plans.

Located in Warwick, R.I.; Lady Lake, Fla.; Canton, Mich.; and Greenburgh, N.Y., each of these new locations plans on providing consumers with the wholesale club experience it is known for, as well as value and convenience, the company said.

“We continue to accelerate our expansion and we’re excited to open these new locations,” Bill Werner, executive vice president of strategy and development at BJ’s Wholesale Club said. “We’re always looking for ways to bring the value and convenience of a BJ’s membership to more shoppers, and extending our reach is a major way of achieving that.”

The new clubs in Florida, Michigan and New York will feature an extensive selection of fresh foods, a full-service deli, household essentials, paper products, cleaning products, diapers, pet supplies, fashion for the family, seasonal items, toys, tech and local products among other offerings.

In the Warwick, R.I., club shoppers can expect to find the retailer’s innovation lab, which will allow for testing out new assortments, displays, product demonstrations and convenience initiatives, the company said.

Lastly, BJ’s Wholesale Club also shared that each new location is expected to create approximately 150 new jobs for the respective communities, and the BJ’s Market will create about 50 new jobs for its respective community.
