Blue Diamond adds heat to almond offerings

There are several new, spicy almonds hitting shelves.

Blue Diamond is reinventing its offerings with a new line of products — Xtremes Almonds.

Made with real peppers, the line contains 6 g of plant protein, as well as vitamin E and magnesium, the Sacramento, Calif.-based company said.

“Spicy snacks are continuing to rise in popularity, and through our research, we uncovered that there is a growing demand to really bring the heat to the category,” Maya Erwin, Blue Diamond’s vice president of innovation and R&D said. “We couldn’t resist combining our highest-quality almonds with extremely hot flavor to give consumers a flavor rush they’ll keep wanting to come back for.”

Available in three flavors, cayenne pepper (hot), ghost pepper (hotter), and Carolina reaper (hottest), shoppers are able to find Blue Diamond Xtremes at select retailers across the nation.

The line will expand to major retailers and online beginning in June.
