ConAgra earns honor from Safe Quality Food Institute

OMAHA, Neb. — ConAgra has received an honor for its commitment to food safety.

The company said it earned the Safe Quality Food Institute's SQFI 2011 Quality Achievement Award for Manufacturer of the Year. The company, which has SQF certification, has made investments in its food safety programs, particularly between 2007 and 2010, when the company spent $275 million in plant upgrades and safety improvements.

"ConAgra Foods embraces a dynamic food safety culture at all levels of the organization," SQFI SVP Robert Garfield said. "The employees’ goal of continuously improving their company’s food safety system and ConAgra Foods’ comprehensive commitment to food safety are to be applauded."
