Doritos hatches its largest chip ever with Jurassic World partnership
There’s a Doritos chip out there that’s larger than ever, thanks to the brand’s partnership with Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
The company, which is part of PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division, created the larger than life chip — in the spirit of the film’s dinosaurs — that stands to be 18 times larger than the size of an ordinary Doritos tortilla chip.
With the help of BD Wong, who plays Dr. Henry Wu in the film series, the company launched a video clip that chronicles his character’s creation of the gigantic chip.
Those interested in adopting a Jurassic Doritos chip can do so by tweeting #JurassicDoritos #entry to @Doritos for a chance to win. The bidding will be open until June 21 and the winning bid will be donated to the American Red Cross to help those affected by the volcanic events in Hawaii, where scenes from the film were shot.
In addition, the partnership between the two brands will expand beyond its charitable efforts. The Plano, Texas-based company’s Doritos products will be specially marked with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom packaging and its website revamped in the spirit of the film.
Each pack of the snack will have code that can be entered online and will unlock a game that allows consumers to explore the digital version of Isla Nublar, rescue dinosaurs and be entered in a chance to win such prizes as a trip to Costa Rica.
