Halen launches dark chocolate medallions

9/18/2018
Halen, a brand that focuses on creating better-for-you snacks, is ready to shake up the chocolate category.

The brand unveiled its new Joyfuls line, which contains dark chocolate medallions that are crafted with 60% cacao and topped with such ingredients as fruits, nuts, seeds and pink Himalayan salt.

The inspiration for the collection came from the traditional Mendiants that are crafted by French chocolatiers, and each bag is sourced from Non-GMO Project Verified and Fair Trade Certified ingredients, the Fairfield, N.J.-based company said.

“At Halen, we know that sweets can be a guilty pleasure – and we want to increase the pleasure while dialing down the guilt,” Vincent James, the creative force behind Joyfuls, said. “With Joyfuls, people can feel good about their indulgence — from the tantalizing taste to the high-quality, properly sourced ingredients to the ability to easily count calories and control portion size. Just the right treat in just the right amount. That is joy. That is Joyfuls.”

Coming in three varieties, the Joyfuls lineup includes:

  • Cranberries, almonds and pink Himalayan salt;

  • Currants, pumpkin seeds and pink Himalayan salt; and

  • Toasted coconut, almonds and pink Himalayan salt.

The medallions range from about 60 to 70 calories, with a serving size of three pieces. All of the three flavors can be found on the shelves of such retailers as Wegmans, Kings, ShopRite, Roundy’s, Fresh Market, Hy-Vee and Central Market in 4-oz. bags that retail from $4.99 to $5.49 each.
