Heineken USA rolls up sleeves for safe haven for abused youths

3/27/2009

LAS VEGAS To kick off its annual western region sales meeting, Heineken USA decided to take initiative and give back to the community.

Close to 100 Heineken USA employees spent March 25 enhancing the living quarters at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, a non-profit resort in Boulder City that rescues abused, abandoned and neglected children of all races and faiths from the vicious cycle of child abuse.

“The decision to participate in a ‘day of giving’ is a reflection of what Heineken USA stands for as a company,” said Allan O’Neill, VP western region, Heineken USA. “While our meeting was to review plans to meet this year’s business goals, we wanted to ensure that we took the opportunity to continue our commitment to the communities in which we live and work in, particularly with a gathering of this size.”

The projects tackled by the Heineken USA team helped enhance the ranch’s physical appearance and provide a safe, secure and clean environment for the residents.

In addition to the organization’s physical labor, Heineken USA also made a financial contribution to support St. Jude’s Ranch for Children’s ongoing efforts to provide children with a safe haven and a second chance.

The Ranch’s 40-acre campus is currently licensed to care for 67 children ages 5-21, and provides therapeutic residential care, transitional living, and teen parenting programs.

“The children that come to the ranch are in dire need of nurturing to rebuild their lives,” said Christine J. Spadafor, CEO of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. “We are thrilled to receive the support of Heineken USA. Their support – both financial and volunteer efforts today – helps lift the spirits of our residents and ensures the environment feels like home.”
