Jelly Belly to introduce beer-flavored bean

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Jelly Belly Candy Company is set to unveil a new flavor to its collection: the Draft Beer Jelly Belly jelly bean. Jelly Belly will debut the new flavor at the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco and ISM in Cologne, Germany. The beer flavor has been a popular request by consumers for decades, the company said. 



"This took about three years to perfect," Ambrose Lee, research and development manager for Jelly Belly Candy Company, said. "The recipe includes top secret ingredients, but I can tell you it contains no alcohol."



The golden-colored Draft Beer jelly bean's flavor profile includes notes of wheat with a mildly bready aroma and a hint of sweetness. Consumers can expect to see the Draft Beer Jelly Belly at candy counters around the world in early 2014.



"Anyone who enjoys a good, cold beer will enjoy Draft Beer Jelly Belly beans for the simple fact that it tastes just as you'd imagine," Rob Swaigen, VP marketing for Jelly Belly Candy Co., said.
