Kellogg Company tests redesigned, smaller cereal packaging

1/27/2009

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. Kellogg Company commenced a "test-run" of its new space-saving cereal boxes in Detroit Monday. For six months, Kellogg's cereal will be sold in select Detroit stores in its redesigned packaging.

Though the boxes contain the same amount of food as previous packaging, 8% less material is used, offering consumers more spare space in their pantries and adding a more environmentally friendly element to the products.

Consumer acceptance, retailer feedback and expected internal efficiencies will be measured in order to judge test's success.
