Kellogg's, 'Dancing with the Stars' host help fight hunger with Feeding America
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. Kellogg Co. announced that it is teaming up with Samantha Harris, co-host of ABC’s "Dancing With the Stars" and correspondent and fill-in anchor of CBS’ "The Insider", to help fight hunger.
Recent reports showed that 1-in-8 Americans is struggling with hunger, and food banks across the country are challenged to keep up with rising needs.
Beginning June 17, consumers can visit www.kelloggs.com/feedingamerica to make a donation to Feeding America, the nation’s leading hunger relief organization. Consumers who donate $5 or more will receive Kellogg’s cereal coupons worth a total of $5. The company also will donate an entire day’s worth of cereal production, more than 55 million cereal servings.
"I'm hopeful that this donation will make a significant impact for families in need across America," said David Mackay, president and CEO of Kellogg Co. "Not only do we feel that it's our responsibility to give back to those who have been hit hard by the economic downturn, but we're also trying to provide others with the opportunity to help this important cause."
The consumer donation program will run for three months, or until the company reaches its goal of $1 million in total consumer donations. Since Feeding America was founded, Kellogg's has donated more than 224 million lbs. of food over the past 10 years.
