Magic Hat Brewing Co. sold to North American Breweries

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. Magic Hat Brewing Co., the craft brewery behind the namesake beer, has been sold to a Rochester, N.Y.-based brewery.

North American Breweries has acquired Magic Hat's parent company, Independent Brewers United, as well as Portland, Ore.-based MacTarnahan's beer, according to published reports.

The breweries acquired by North American Breweries have 600 employees.
