5/11/2017

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Mars Chocolate North America’s M&M’s brand is bringing candy-coated caramel to consumers. The company on Thursday announced the launch of its M&M’s Caramel chocolate candies.

The company also is introducing a new caramel sidekick to join the M&M’s spokes-candies to host an experiential event in Times Square to kick off an advertising campaign. It features Caramel, voiced by comedian David Cross, who will interview the typical M&M’s cast.

Additionally, the brand on Thursday turned Times Square into an augmented reality gaming arcade, aimed at fostering nostalgia among participants. It also featured free samples of the new launch.

"Caramel is such a nostalgic and comforting flavor and its popularity is on the rise with pairings like coffees and other specialty foods,” M&M’s brand director Tanya Berman said. “We are delighted to now give our fans a chance to experience it through the fun and colorful world of M&M'S. It took years to develop the technology and machines required to get the delicious soft caramel ingredient into our signature hard candy shell. And, we think it was worth the wait.”
