Mars unveils updated corporate website

9/28/2011

MCLEAN, Va. — Mars said its global corporate website, Mars.com, now includes a summary of its "principles in action," which reflect the company's history, commitments, goals and challenges.

The "principles in action" encompasses the following themes: health and nutrition, supply chain, operations, products and working at Mars. It also describes Mars' businesses: pet care, chocolate, Wrigley, food, drinks and symbioscience.

"What most people know about Mars is that we have a portfolio of brands that are loved by billions of consumers around the globe," Mars president and CEO Paul Michaels said. "What they might not know is that we are a diverse, privately-owned corporation with more than 65,000 associates, and that we have built our business on Five Principles — quality, responsibility, mutuality, efficiency and freedom. These principles unite all of us at Mars across generations, cultures and languages.

"While we have always engaged with our communities and our partners, we recognize that we have an opportunity to expand our communication to a broader audience," Michaels added. "Very reasonably, people want to know that they are choosing to support brands and companies that live up to their responsibilities to their associates, consumers, customers, suppliers, communities and the environment. I am proud that delivering against these responsibilities is at the very heart of who we are, and has been for generations."
