BOSTON — Praim Group this week agreed to produce and distribute a line of chocolate bars for The Mensch on a Bench, which has caught on with Jewish children as well as interfaith families throughout the country.
The Mensch on a Bench, featured recently on ABC's "Shark Tank," is a plush doll (complete with a hardcover storybook) that explains Hanukkah from Moshe the Mensch's point of view. The book illustrates to children the story and traditions of Hanukkah, and throughout the eight nights of the holiday, families help the Mensch celebrate by playing dreidel, singing songs and helping keep watch over the Menorah.
Praim Group will launch two different bar designs: "Mensch Munch" in milk chocolate and "Gelt-Y Pleasure" in dark chocolate. The bars are 3.5 ounces and carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1.99. The bars will ship June 1, according to the company.
"It was impossible this past holiday season to turn on the news or open a magazine without seeing The Mensch On A Bench," says Kerry Laramie, director of sales for Praim Group. "It's a perfect fit for our portfolio and we're excited to be part of growing this brand."
The Mensch On A Bench originated as a limited-quantity Kickstarter campaign, but quickly evolved into a "must-have" gift in 2014 for Jewish and interfaith families.
Praim Group was established in 2006 as a one-stop shop for food-related consumer brands. The company's roster includes such brands as DreamWorks, Bosco, SeapointFarms Edamame Crunch and Bloomsberry & Co., among others.
