Nestle issues recall of Lean Cuisine meals after pieces of plastic found

CLEVELAND Nestle Prepared Foods Co. announced Thursday a recall of hundreds of thousands of its frozen chicken Lean Cuisine meals after reports that pieces of hard plastic were found in the meals.

The recall was issued after several consumer complaints of finding plastic in the meals, including one reported injury, the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service reported.

The recall applies to particular boxes of Lean Cuisine’s 9.5-ounce pesto chicken with bow tie pasta meals,10.5-ounce packages of chicken Mediterranean, 12.5-ounce packages of chicken Tuscan, with use-by dates ranging between Sept. 2009 and Oct. 2010. The meals were distributed nationwide, reports have said.
