New study finds yogurt effective in improving digestive health
CHICAGO General Mills on Wednesday released results of a clinical study that illustrated how individuals who consumed Yoplait YoPlus yogurt improved digestive health.
Researchers at UNC Chapel Hill concluded that Yoplait YoPlus yogurt may have a beneficial balance of probiotics and fiber that improves digestive health when consumed daily.
The results of this six-week study at UNC were announced by co-researcher Tamar Ringel-Kulka at the Digestive Disease Week conference in Chicago. YoPlus contains Bifidobacterium lactis (Bb-12), a well-known probiotic culture, and inulin. Both of which work with the gut to help regulate digestive health.
The participants, both men and women, occasionally experienced digestive problems, the study said.
According to Kulka, “There are very few pharmacologic options for people managing occasional gastrointestinal discomfort such as constipation or bloating. A yogurt containing probiotics and fiber is a promising choice for those who experience occasional digestive health issues.”
YoPlus is currently available for purchase in dairy aisle of major supermarkets nationwide.
