PureCircle's Reb M receives FDA approval
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — PureCircle, a producer and marketer of stevia, announced that the Food and Drug Administration has approved PureCircle's Rebaudioside M (Reb M) as a general purpose sweetener for foods and beverages in the United States.
“Ongoing investment in supply chain assets and leaf development are in place to support the commercialization of Reb M,” Jason Hecker, VP global marketing and innovation, PureCircle said. “We are excited by the opportunities Reb M presents for success within the framework of our Stevia 3.0 capabilities.”
The discovery and development of the sweetener is the result of a joint development and supply agreement with the Coca-Cola Co. The companies are seeking intellectual property coverage for the ingredient.
