CHICAGO — Quaker Oats Co., a unit of PepsiCo, on Thursday announced a line of new breakfast products. The brand said it hopes the new additions will give consumers an exciting, nutritional option for the cold months ahead.
To jump-start the oatmeal season, the following new products will roll out:
Quaker Quick 3-Minute Steel Cut Oatmeal, which gives consumers the texture of steel-cut oats, but with a convenient cook time — bringing the cooking time from 30 minutes to three. Available in original flavor, as well as blueberries and cranberries and brown sugar and cinnamon;
Quaker Real Medleys Super Grains brings to the breakfast table a blend of fruit and nuts, as well as a blend of oats, wheat, barley, rye, quinoa and flax. Consumers will be able to select from banana walnut and maple pecan raisin varieties;
Quaker Protein Instant Oatmeal, which is offered in banana nut and cranberry almond, contains 10 g of protein and 40 g of whole grains; and
Quaker Instant Oatmeal: 50% Less Sugar will be available with no artificial sweeteners. Available in cinnamon pecan and apple walnut varieties, this product will be the first nationally available instant oatmeal to use stevia, according to the company. Stevia is a zero-calorie plant extract.
“We are dedicated to delivering the power of the oat to our consumers through new and delicious products that address their varied lifestyle needs,” said Joe Silverman, senior marketing director for Quaker Oats. “Whether families are looking for a wholesome and delicious start to their day, specific benefits like more protein or just a fast, convenient and filling breakfast, Quaker has a solution.”
The new additions are available at select mass merchandise and grocery stores now. Nationwide availability begins January 2015.
