Ralph's, Food 4 Less announce checkstand canister fundraising program

LOS ANGELES Two supermarket chains owned by Kroger announced their fundraising efforts to benefit local food banks.

Ralph's and Food 4 Less said that they are collecting donations to help local food banks and families in need through their checkstand canisters. Each retailer kicked off their respective Bringing Hope to the Table initiatives, which include an annual cause-marketing partnership with Feeding America that generated more than $200,000 for Feeding America-affiliated food banks this year.

The efforts by Ralph's and Food 4 Less are part of their ongoing commitment to bring as much food as possible to hungry families, which also includes a companywide Perishables Donations Partnership program that allows fresh, wholesome food — including meat, produce and dairy products — to be donated directly from the stores to local food banks that are able to safely handle perishable foods.

Food 4 Less operates 146 price-impact, warehouse-format supermarkets under the banners Food 4 Less in Southern California and Nevada, and Foods Co. in Northern California, from its headquarters in Los Angeles. Ralph's currently operates 257 supermarkets from its headquarters in Los Angeles.
