Report: Coca-Cola consumers see red when it comes to white holiday cans

12/2/2011

ATLANTA — Shortly after announcing the debut of its frosted white holiday packaging, Coca-Cola will pull the look in favor of its iconic red can.

As previously reported by Drug Store News, the company said its Coca-Cola's cans would tout an arctic white design during the holiday season to reflect the brand's partnership with the World Wildlife Fund as part of an effort to call out conservation efforts for polar bears. According to the Wall Street Journal, however, the color change has caused confusion among consumers, who purchased the cans believing they were Diet Coke.

Coca-Cola reportedly will phase out the white cans and will debut holiday red cans by next week, WSJ said.
