Report: Kombucha market to grow to $1.8B by 2020

PUNE, India — The global kombucha market is expected to reach $1.8 billion by 2020, according to a MarketsandMarketsreport released Thursday.

The market is currently valued at $0.6 billion and is projected to have a compound annual growth rate of 25% from 2015 to 2020, reflecting a trend in consumer preferences for healthy beverages, the report said. Kombucha helps in curing diseases related to liver, cancer and digestion. 

While the demand for kombucha is high in developed markets, such as those of the United States and European countries, demand for the beverage is anticipated to increase exponentially in China and India, the report said.

North America currently represents the largest market for kombucha.
