Sol Chelada lands on shelves in the U.S.

3/6/2019
Sol, a line of Mexican beer that was founded in 1899, is adding a new beverage line to its portfolio that will be hitting shelves within the United States — Sol Chelada.

The beverage combines the flavors of Sol with tomato, lime, chili, celery, onion, clam and black pepper together, and is crafted by the brewmasters behind Mexico’s top chelada, the company said.

"Beer drinkers have been asking us to bring Sol Chelada to the United States for quite some time," Danielle Rappoport, MillerCoors' marketing director said. "We are proud to introduce a convenient, savory and refreshing chelada mix that fans and new drinkers can enjoy."

Combining beer with ingredients that constitute a chelada is traditionally known as a mezcla, and it contains a 3.5% alcohol by volume content, the company added.

Sol Chelada is available in 24-oz. single cans in most grocery, convenience and liquor stores nationwide.

This new beverage arrives a year after the Mexican import Sol was relaunched in the United States under MillerCoors. The product’s launch will be supported with online video, social media, digital advertising, influencer programming and out-of-home displays, the company added.
