StarKist goes gourmet with latest pouches
PITTSBURGH — Seafood brand StarKist is adding Gourmet Selects tuna pouches to its portfolio of products. The pouches come complete with vegetables — chili peppers, tomatoes or jalapenos — adding another kick to the brand's globally inspired varieties, which include Thai, Mediterranean and Mexican-style tuna.
"As the first seafood company to introduce the flavor fresh pouch, innovation is at the core of everything we do," said Frank Pogue, VP marketing and innovation at StarKist. "With the introduction of Gourmet Selects Tuna Pouches, we're bringing convenience to the gourmet food category. By combining global flavors with premium quality tuna, we are further elevating the way Americans think about seafood."
Consumers can choose from the following varieties:
Mexican Style Tuna, with diced jalapenos and packed in sunflower oil;
Mediterranean Style Tuna, with chopped sundried tomatoes and packed in extra virgin olive oil; and
Thai Style Tuna, mixed with diced chili peppers and packed in sunflower oil.
The pouches retail for $1.69, and can be found in grocery stores across the country.
