What’s Hot: Raising the snack bar

12/14/2009

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. —Kellogg Co. has introduced Cinnabon snack bar to its portfolio of breakfast treats. The new snack bars contain Cinnabon’s world-famous blend of rich cinnamon, as well as its trademark “delicious fresh-baked flavor and melt-in-your-mouth frosting,” and can be eaten cold or heated in the microwave for a toasty, warm treat.

The bars contain 150 calories, so Kellogg’s is calling them “a little wholesome indulgence.” The new Cinnabon snack bars are available in six- and 12-count boxes, come in two flavors—original and caramel—and have a suggested retail price ranging from $2.99 to $3.29.

Bars continue to appeal to consumers as a quick and easy breakfast and snack solution. Dollar sales of breakfast/cereal/snack bars were up 4% at food, drug and mass outlets (excluding Walmart) for the 52 weeks ended Oct. 4, according to Information Resources Inc.
