Whole Foods appoints Jason Buechel as chief information officer, global VP

AUSTIN, Texas — Natural foods retailer Whole Foods Market has appointed a former Accenture executive as its global VP and chief information officer, the company said.

Whole Foods announced the appointment of Jason Buechel, who will report directly to co-CEO Walter Robb and CFO Glenda Flanagan, overseeing the technology team in the company's Austin, Texas, headquarters and 12 regional offices in the United States and the United Kingdom.

"In addition to enhancing our existing IT capabilities, Jason will play a significant role in helping expand and improve our customer experience through the use of technology," Robb said. "We are thrilled to have him join our team."

Buechel previously worked for Accenture for 12 years as senior executive and managing director within the retail operations practice, being promoted to partner in 2009 and working with retailers in strategic planning, delivery and operational management of information technology and business capabilities.
