  • Costco U.S. comps rise 2% in August

    ISSAQUAH, Wash. -- Costco reported a 2% increase in same store sales for August and net sales of $8.9 billion.

    The comp increase excludes the impact of foreign currency fluctuations and deflation in gasoline prices. The company recorded comps growth of 2% and 4% across its U.S. and Canadian locations, respectively, while it had flat comps at other international outlets.

    For the 16-week fourth quarter, the company reported net sales of $35.7 billion, an increase of 2% from $35 billion in the fourth quarter last year, which ended Aug. 30, 2015.

    ISSAQUAH, Wash. — Costco recently shared its May sales results, posting net sales of $9.23 billion, a 3% increase over the $8.98 billion it brought in during the similar period last year. This year May included an extra sales day in the U.S. compared to last year due to the timing of Memorial Day, which the company expects to positively impact net sales and comparable sales for the year by about 2.5% overall and 3.5% in the U.S. 
     
  • Comps steady in Costco’s Q3

    ISSAQUAH, Wash. — Costco on Thursday reported the results of its third quarter and the year-to-date sales, bringing in $26.15 billion in net sales during the quarter and $80.34 billion in sales so far this year.
     
    The company’s U.S. comparable store sales for the quarter saw a 0% increase and a 2% increase for the first 36 weeks of the year. Without the effects of gas price deflation and foreign exchange, quarterly comps were at 3% and YTD comps were at 4%.
