  • CVS, YMCA partnership curbs new cases

    CVS Health in September partnered with the YMCA to help expand its Diabetes Prevention Program.

    The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a group-based lifestyle intervention for adults at high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Through a 12-month, evidence-based plan, the program has been successful in reducing the number of new cases of diabetes by 58% overall and by 71% in adults older than 60 years.

  • Free screenings help break barriers to care

    With the advent of complimentary health screenings available through a growing number of retail health fairs — such as CVS Health, Walmart and Sam’s Club and ShopRite, to name a few — more and more consumers are learning for the first time that they may be diabetic or prediabetic from their neighborhood pharmacist as opposed to their primary care doctors.

  • CVS teams with American Cancer Society to stamp-out tobacco use on campus

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — The CVS Health Foundation has teamed up the American Cancer Society to award grants to 20 U.S. colleges and universities as part of their Tobacco-Free Generation Campus Initiative. 

    The $3.6-million multiyear program is intended to award a total of 125 colleges and universities throughout the United States that have the greatest need for stronger tobacco prevention and control. Colleges will use the funds to advocate for, adopt and implement 100% smoke- and tobacco-free campus policies. 

  • UPDATED: PBM drives CVS in Q3, but front-end retail sales decline

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — Strong results in its PBM business provided a boost during CVS Health’s fiscal third quarter, with the retailer on Nov. 8 reporting a 23.6% increase in net earnings to $1.5 billion and a revenue increase of 15.5 percent to $6 billion for the period ended Sept. 30. 

  • CVS honors veterans

    FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — CVS Health teamed with the NFL’s New England Patriots on Nov. 5 to provide a football skills camp for nearly 30 veterans from Massachusetts and Rhode Island at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

    The camp included a Patriots-style entry onto the turf via an oversized Patriots helmet. Once the skills session began, Patriots alumni Patrick Pass, Harold Shaw and Vernon Crawford taught veterans from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs New England blocking, throwing and kicking skills, followed by an autograph session, lunch and stadium tours.

  • CVS Caremark earns URAC accreditations across several programs

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. - CVS Health announced Wednesday that pharmacy benefits manager CVS Caremark has earned URAC accreditations in Health Call Center for its Pharmacy Advisor counseling program as well as in Pharmacy Benefit Management and Drug Therapy Management.
