    AccentHealth collected data through an online survey conducted from Oct. 14 to 21. Participants responded via AccentHealth's national, online panel of network viewers, and the survey yielded 520 respondents who were at least 18 years of age, and either themselves or a household member have prediabetes, Type 1 diabetes or Type 2 diabetes.

  • ADA pushes nutrition therapy

    Supermarket pharmacy operators last month received validation for the growing number of diabetes educators and dietary nutritionists walking their aisles. In the Oct. 9 issue of Diabetes Care, the American Diabetes Association recommended all people with diabetes make nutrition therapy a part of their treatment plan.

  • Prevention programs increasingly prevalent

    Chances are, if a person doesn’t have diabetes, then they personally know someone who does. According to a recent poll conducted by Research Now, 75% of those surveyed reported they either had diabetes or knew a diabetic.

  • Condition management drives purchasing in store aisles among diabetics

    According to an October 2013 poll of more than 500 AccentHealth viewers with diabetes or a family history of diabetes, regular visits to the doctor, keeping a strict fitness routine and dieting are perceived to be the most important elements in managing and preventing diabetes. Interestingly, visiting the doctor is the most adhered-to step to living a healthy life among respondents (78%).

    WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Dannon will partner with the American Diabetes Association to raise awareness about diabetes and the importance of a healthy, balanced diet.

  • International Diabetes Federation appoints Petra Wilson as CEO

    BRUSSELS — A former executive from Cisco has been appointed as CEO of the International Diabetes Federation.

    The IDF announced Thursday the appointment of Petra Wilson, who formerly served as Cisco's senior director of the European health and care business solutions team, working with the World Health Organization, the European Commission, governments and others.
