Duncan Hines intros keto friendly cake cups

Those adhering to a keto lifestyle may not necessarily have to give up sweet treats.

Duncan Hines is looking to cater to the demographic by unveiling its new keto friendly cake cups, which offer a warm treat that is ready in just a few minutes, the company said.

Available in three flavors — walnut fudge brownie, birthday cake and double chocolate cake — the keto cups contain 5 g of net carbs and are easy to prepare.

“People following a keto-friendly diet still want to enjoy delicious sweet treats, and we're excited to provide them with satisfying new options,” Audrey Ingersoll, Duncan Hines senior director said. “Our new cake cups deliver the warmth and indulgence you expect from Duncan Hines, with a recipe that's on trend with contemporary diets.”

To prepare the cups, consumers need to simply add two tablespoons of water and one to two tablespoons of melted butter before placing in the microwave for one minute. Instructions also allow such swaps for butter as avocado oil and coconut oil, the company said.

Duncan Hines’ keto friendly cake cups can be found at grocery stores and mass retailers nationwide for the suggested retail price of $2.15.
