Drew Massey, Fruth Pharmacy’s director of operations, was honored as an inductee of the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy Hall of Fame.

Massey was one of several distinguished alumni honored for their accomplishments in health care and for demonstrating sustained and meritorious contributions to the pharmacy profession, West Virginia University and the healthcare society at large.

Massey graduated from WVU in 2002 as a member of the inaugural Doctor of Pharmacy class, started his career in Charleston and currently oversees pharmacy operations for Fruth Pharmacy, a West Virginia-based regional pharmacy chain.

“I love helping our customers, serving our communities, and continuing to progress the practice of pharmacy from profession to provider," Massey said at the induction ceremony. "I was born, raised and educated here in the great state of West Virginia and look for new ways to serve in order to pave the way for the next generation.”

Massey led the Fruth Pharmacy Covid response in West Virginia and was instrumental in vaccinating thousands of people in Appalachia including delivering COVID vaccines to the homes of shut in patients. For his efforts, he was recognized in 2021 with the WVU James R. McCartney Community Service Alumni of the Year Award at halftime of a WVU football game.

“Drew’s dedication to the profession of pharmacy, his home state, and the goal of mentoring and developing young pharmacists makes him a great selection for this honor,” said Lynne Fruth, president of Fruth Pharmacy.
